A Solitary Beast

I need to leave
But can't get away
I need to get out
But there's nowhere to go

I can't contain him anymore
He wants to get out
The beast inside me
A beast with wings

A low guttural sound
Escapes from my throat
There's no way to stop him
Not this time

Pain courses through my veins
I fall to my knees
And arch my back
My bones begin to shift

Screams escape me
Soon morphing into roars
There is nothing left of me
Replaced by wings and claws

I take flight into the sky
Setting fire to the night
No longer part of the human world
I'm just a solitary beast
